City Hall, Cardiff Ghost Hunt

Cardiff City Hall Ghost Hunts With Paranormal Eye UK.

Explore the spooky Cardiff City Hall with the Paranormal Eye UK team and immerse yourself in its eerie atmosphere. This building was constructed on the outskirts of a Roman fortress and is filled with endless dark corridors, secret rooms, and hidden staircases. Over the years, many deaths have been reported at this location, making it even more haunting as night falls. Visitors have spotted ghostly apparitions wandering the council chambers, and eerie music has been heard from a locked-off assembly room. Additionally, people have reported hearing heavy footsteps and slamming doors, and the staff refuse to lock up alone due to their experiences. During previous ghost hunts, cries and moans were heard emanating from within the hidden derelict flat. Join the Paranormal Eye UK team for a unique ghost hunt at this intensely haunted location. Can you handle the paranormal activity at Cardiff City Hall?

History of City Hall Cardiff

City Hall is a grade 1 listed building that stands in the heart of Cardiff in South Wales. It is the centrepiece of one of the world’s finest civic centres, an area of impressive buildings, landscaped gardens and broad tree-lined avenues.

City Hall was opened in 1906 after Cardiff was given its royal charter as a city in 1905. It is built in the English Renaissance style, and the exterior is carved from Portland stone.

City Hall houses an extensive art collection, including "Winter" by Joseph Farquharson. The collection is displayed for visitors, subject to the rooms not being hired for private functions. There is also a booklet with full details of the art collection available free from the reception desk at City Hall.

The Clock Tower of City Hall is perhaps the most distinctive architectural feature of the building, bold and asymmetrical and a well-loved Cardiff landmark. The distinctive clock tower is 59 m in height and has a 3.7 m-diameter gilded dial on each of its four faces. The clock mechanism includes an hour bell and four quarter bells, each inscribed with mottoes in English or Welsh.

The magnificent exterior of City Hall prepares the visitor for the decorative Edwardian interiors, where rooms, both large and small, are all elegantly proportioned. The portico leads into the main foyer and reception.

Magnificent columns of Sienna marble line the appropriately named Marble Hall mounted in bronze. Beyond the doors at its northern end lies the Assembly Room. This splendid interior has played host to Royalty, Heads of State and diplomats from all over the world on many great occasions.

Directly beneath the dome of City Hall is the Council Chamber, which has witnessed many passionate debates over the years. Today it is available for numerous other uses, including press conferences, televised debates, meetings and wedding ceremonies.

The complex was commissioned to replace Cardiff's fourth town hall on the western side of St Mary's Street, completed in 1853. Lord Bute officially opened the new building on 29 October 1906.

In front of the entrance, the portico is a rectangular pool with fountains. The fountains were created to mark the investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales in July 1969.
