Boreatton Park Shrewsbury Ghost Hunt

Unlock the Secrets of the Paranormal World

Boreatton Park, located in Shrewsbury, was acquired by Dr. Sankey in 1884 and transformed into a psychiatric asylum. The Home Office took over the property in 1942, converting it into a correctional facility and residential school for troubled boys. By 1969, it transitioned into a community home before closing its doors in 1974.
Countless accounts of paranormal phenomena have been documented throughout the years at Boreatton Park. Witnesses have reported sightings of full-bodied apparitions aimlessly wandering into the main house, eerie cries of a young child echoing through the halls, and ghostly faces peering out from the windows. These chilling occurrences have piqued the curiosity of many, drawing them to the mysterious estate in search of answers.

History Of Boreatton Park

In 1884, you might have lived here if you were mad or regarded as eccentric. Back then, Boreatton Park was an insane asylum and described as "a licensed house for the reception of insane patients of the upper classes".

After the Second World War and into the late 1960s, Boreatton Park became an 'approved school' for delinquent boys aged 14-18 who were sent there by the courts for "corrective training". For many of the boys, it was not a happy place. An inmate from this period recalls his time there.

The house itself is a rare example of a Victorian "calendar" house. Calendar houses were built with architectural features representing the number of days in the week, weeks in a month and months in a year etc.. So Boreatton Park has 12 chimneys, each with four stacks and seven pots, 12 main bedrooms, 52 doors and seven staircases.
