Is Falstaff’s Museum Haunted?

Falstaff’s Museum has become well known within the paranormal community, with numerous stories and reports of unexplained experiences associated with the building.

Visitors and paranormal investigators have reported unexplained whispers, mysterious sounds, shadowy figures, sudden cold sensations and the unsettling feeling of being watched.

The staircase has developed a particularly eerie reputation, while the upper areas of the building have also been associated with reports of unusual paranormal experiences.

The venue itself acknowledges its reputation for hauntings and offers ghost tours after dark, during which guides recount reported sightings and paranormal stories connected with different rooms.

But what will happen when you investigate?

Paranormal Activity at Falstaff’s Museum

Previous investigations have produced a variety of reported experiences throughout the property.

Some visitors have described hearing unexplained whispers and other strange noises, while others have reported seeing fleeting shadows or experiencing sudden changes in temperature.

The upper séance room has also become associated with accounts of unusual cold sensations and the feeling that someone or something may be nearby.

There are also stories within paranormal circles of particularly intense activity on the upper floor.

Whether these experiences have a paranormal explanation is something you can investigate for yourself during your Falstaff’s Museum ghost hunting experience.

The History of Falstaff’s Museum

The history behind this remarkable Stratford-upon-Avon building is every bit as fascinating as its paranormal reputation.

The property is associated with Shrieve’s House and Barn, and the venue states that a dwelling has occupied the site since the medieval period. The surviving historic buildings are associated particularly with the 16th century. Tudor World

The first known tenant was William Shrieve, an archer to Henry VIII. During the 16th century, the property operated as a tavern, and its tavern keeper, William Rogers, has traditionally been associated with the inspiration behind Shakespeare’s character Falstaff. The Rogers family also had documented connections with Shakespeare's family. Tudor World

The building has witnessed centuries of local history, including the Tudor period, fires, plague and the English Civil War. During the 17th century, wounded soldiers were reportedly brought to the property following the Battle of Edgehill. Tudor World

Today, the building forms part of Tudor World, a living-history museum in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon.
