Ghost Hunts here at Chirk Mill are really only for the brave, dating back to the 1300s, is in an isolated area hidden from the beaten track. This paranormal hotspot is said to be rife with strange and spooky happenings. Visitors have reported ghostly, full-bodied apparitions looking out from the upper windows, and some people have even claimed to have seen a young girl wandering the grounds. Upon entering the mill, there's definitely an eerie atmosphere that's not for the faint-hearted. With a dark eerie cellar, a haunted cellar and three floors of rooms to investigate this is a real must for anyone wanting to explore the paranormal. Previous ghost hunters have reported disembodied voices on the third floor, and sounds of scratching and cries have been heard from the locked-off attic area. Our team is opening the doors of this haunted mill for a ghost hunt, and we're inviting you to be part of this unique experience. History of Chirk Mill
The Original Mill was built in the 1300`s. During the Tudor/Elizabethan period, the building was improved; however, the remains of the original building can still be seen. The building was raised and was extended during the 1700`s.
there was a gabled queen house joined onto the mill to the rear of the land, and a three-story extension was built adjoining the right-hand side of the building. initially, there was an undershot wheel, which was replaced with an overshot wheel for greater efficiency.
sadly, the wheel and the pit have disappeared and are entirely locked off. There have been many repairs to the mill over the centuries, many of which use reclaimed materials. including timber from ships and stone from the Valley Crucis Abbey. new doors and were either made or bricked up. The Current owner's Great Uncle and Grandfather took over the mill in 1937
There was a fire at the mill; the house behind the mill went up and was demolished,
Sadly the mill fell into a sorry state and the current owners are trying to restore this back to its former glory.
